Newport fans' passion won praise from football legends Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer

It was so close, yet so far for Newport County, as they fell to a 4-2 home defeat against Manchester United. The game was a sell-out and it even led some to take extreme measures to make sure they got a view of the pitch.
One set of fans rented space outside a woman's home to put scaffolding up, you can read about that here, to give them a view of the game which in turn got them a shout out from Gary Linekar.
Photographer Richard Swingler's pictures captured the build-up in the city. Man Utd midfielder Bruno Fernandes’ strike opened the scoring after six minutes at Rodney Parade, before teenager Kobbie Mainoo doubled the Premier League giants’ lead with his first United goal.

A wonder goal from Bryn Morris brought the Exiles back into the fourth round tie before half-time. You can see how the game unfolded here.
Will Evans sent the County fans into rapture when he equalised moments into the second half, but Antony’s rebound finish and Rasmus Hojlund’s injury-time goal made the game safe for the Red Devils, who will face Bristol City or Nottingham Forest in the next round.
