A body has been found in the search for a man who vanished days before Christmas. South Wales Police has confirmed the body of Daniel Jones was discovered on the bank of the Loughor Estuary. The 26-year-old, a former Pentrepoeth junior and Bishop Vaughan comprehensive school pupil, had been subject to a missing persons appeal for months with the public asked to come forward with any information to his whereabouts.
He was last seen in Water Street in Pontarddulais, Swansea, at around 11.30pm on Monday, December 18. A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "On Sunday, March 24, South Wales Police was notified by Dyfed-Powys Police of the discovery of a body of a man on the bank of the Loughor Estuary. The body has been identified as that of Daniel Jones who was reported missing from the Swansea area in December 2023.
"Daniel’s immediate family has been informed. Dyfed-Powys Police will oversee the coroner’s inquiry and Mr. Jones’ family has been contacted by the coroner’s office." For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter.

His dad, Kevin Jones, in January spoke of the ordeal his family had been going through. He described how they chose not to celebrate Christmas, and the many gut-wrenching false alarms of sightings of his son, and how his disappearance was completely out of his character. Mr Jones had a flat at Griffith John Street and had previously lived in the Waunarlwydd area. His dad described him as a "cheeky and cheerful guy and a very likeable person" who had many friends.
