Swansea-born flyweight Jay Harris fights unbeaten Connor Butler tonight with three titles on the line.
Harris, who hails from the Townhill area of Swansea, has had a magnificent career so far with a record of 20 wins, 3 losses and 0 draws, accumulating 11 KOs.
The next challenge in the 33-year old’s career is no easy task, but the triple-title clash, in Butler’s home city of Liverpool, is not phasing Harris, who told BoxingScene ahead of the fight: “I’m getting to that age now and it’s becoming the norm. It’s just a ring. I don’t care about the crowd. It’s just me and him who’s going to be fighting.
“I’m a bit more experienced now. I understand the game a lot more now. I’m much calmer in myself in the ring. I’m really fit so I’ve got a good engine. I know I can stay at a good pace for the whole fight and I’m still strong. I’m strong at 8st. It suits me. I’m calmer and more relaxed at the moment. I’m enjoying boxing at the minute.”
A win on Saturday would see Harris hold the British, Commonwealth and European Flyweight titles.
Optimistic for the fight, Harris said: “His team are all confident and he’s a good fighter. He was a good amateur, but I don’t think he’s fought anywhere near the calibre that I have at this minute. Nowhere near.”
Butler also appears bullish. He said: "I think I have got every single answer there is for whatever question he asks."
Regardless of that statement, Harris heads to Merseyside as the bookies’ favourite to bring home the three titles back to south Wales.
What time does the fight start?
The event, at Olympia in Liverpool, is set to start at 7pm with the main event ring walk to start at 10pm on Saturday, February 24, although these timings could change due to the lengths of the undercard fights.
