Dr Alex George has not had much luck recently after he was hospitalised in early April - and more recently he was unable to enjoy his holiday to Paris after he was "taken out by French onion soup". The former Love Islander has posted to his Instagram, telling his fans he "spent the whole time in bed".

He said: "Paris didn't quite go to plan... Night number one I got taken out by French onion soup and have pretty much spent the whole time in bed lol. At this point I'm just laughing about it given my recent luck.

"I had plans for sightseeing and long runs along the River Seine, but unfortunately that will have to wait til next time. At least I managed a short walk and a juice before my Eurostar back to London." You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.

Recently Dr Alex, who shot to fame on Love Island in 2018 and is now known for his campaigning around mental health, was hospitalised with tonsillitis. He explained what happened on Instagram, he said: "Last few days I have had tonsillitis with fevers, but yesterday the swelling around my tonsil went crazy and the pain was very bad. I was hoping it wouldn’t get worse but at midnight last night, it was too much and could hardly swallow so I went to St Thomas A&E.

"Kind of weird for me coming back to St Thomas Hospital, as a few years ago I nearly died of sepsis. If it were not for the incredible care of the doctors and nurses I wouldn’t be here. There is a deep humbling that happens when you feel so unwell that you need to ask someone, “please can you help me?” Want less ads? Download WalesOnline’s Premium app on Apple or Android.
