It is with immense sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of William 'Billy' Aitken at LLandough Hospital on 19th March 2024, his daughter Sarah was with him when he passed. Born and brought up in Grangetown, he had lived in Roath for the last fifty years of his life. He was the beloved father of Sarah, grampy to Marcus, brother of Tony and uncle to Kayleigh, Wills and Paul. He will be truly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. We are sad to announce that John Allen sadly passed away peacefully at home on Friday 22nd March, aged 65. Having fought a short illness, John sadly leaves his partner and more recently husband Andrew. John shall be missed greatly by the whole family; nephew Scott, great nephews Logan and Kreed, his sister, aunts, uncles and cousins, mother-in-law Joan, sister and brother-in-law and their children and grandchildren. Many friends, from the business community, many customers and clients over the 40 years he served as proprietor of Allen's bakery before retiring in Sept '22. It is with great sadness to announce that Karen Ruth Poolman sadly passed away peacefully on 18th March 2024, aged 64. He was born in St.Thomas, Swansea in 1934 to school teacher William Rees and his wife Alice née Waller. On the 20th of June 1940 he survived a direct hit on his home from the first bomb dropped on the town during WWII. He went on to graduate from Swansea Grammar in 1956 and completing his PhD in Control Engineering at Swansea University in 1963. He married Bettye L'Estrange and together they moved to California and then Australia, over time welcoming two sons and two grandsons. Neville had a highly successful career as a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He was whimsical and generous, with a love for his family that was total and unconditional. He will be deeply missed. His ashes will be buried next to Bettye's at midday on 12th April 2024.
