South Wales Police Community Volunteer award
We would like to offer our congratulations to PCSO Mark Jones of Pontardawe who was nominated for the Community Volunteer of the Year award for all his hard work with the Pontardawe and District Youth Facility, and in particular for his Cycle Smart events which have gone such a long way to helping the youth of Pontardawe to Cycle safely.
Well done Mark, keep up the good work!
More good news for Community Organisations
The Neath Port Talbot Environment awards provided a number of awards for groups in the Pontardawe Area.
The Riverside Project was the winner of the 'Green Project of the year' award and received a highly commended in the 'Action for Wildlife' category.
In addition 'Swansea Valley Holiday Cottages' in Cilybebyll won 'Green Business of the Year' and the Swansea Canal Society received a highly commended for 'Green Voluntary Group of the Year'.
I'm sure that we would all like to congratulate the organisations and their volunteers for all the hard work and dedication that it has taken to allow these great projects to succeed.
A fabulously spooky time had by all at the Autumn Fayre on the 29th October with a Seasonal Market and live entertainment, food and craft stalls together with Pumpkin carving and the children's Halloween disco at the Art Centre.
This was followed on the 5th November by an equally successful Bonfire night held at the Rugby Club, with burgers and hotdog, a great Fireworks display followed by music at the club.
Trebanos Park gets some TLC from the local schools.
Trebanos Park got some TLC from pupils at Trebanos Primary School and Cwmtawe Community School this month when they planted 200 daffodil bulbs around the Park. A great time was had by all and even the rain disappeared for a morning.
The children worked very hard and I'm sure that the display in the early part of 2012 will be amazing. We would like to offer our thanks to all the kids and teachers who turned up to help with the bulb planting.
So... What's coming up...
Have a wonderful time everyone over the holidays and we will see you in the New Year
