A police officer has been charged with seriously assaulting a teenager outside a nightclub. PC Ellis Thomas, 24, an officer with North Wales Police, has been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm following an alleged incident involving a 17-year-old boy on January 29, 2023 outside the Cube Nightclub in Bangor.

It follows an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigation into the alleged use of force. PC Thomas will appear before Llandudno Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 17.

The IOPC investigation began in February 2023 after a complaint referral was submitted by North Wales Police. An IOPC spokesman said today: "At the end of our five-month investigation, we sent a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, which has since authorised the charge against the officer.

"North Wales Police has informed us that the officer remains on restricted duties."
