Three Welsh Chinese restaurants are vying to be named the best in Wales. The Golden Chopsticks Awards has shortlisted the eateries as finalists in its illustrious Best Restaurant in Wales Award category for 2024. The winner will be revealed in a ceremony at Royal Lancaster in London on April 29.
The award ceremony recognises East and South East Asian cuisine across the UK and says its mission is to "celebrate the enormous contribution of restaurateurs and food businesses to the UK catering industry and champion the food heroes working within it."
Nominated for the award in the Welsh category are Gigi Gao's Favourite Authentic Chinese in Swansea, Lokky's in Saundersfoot, and The Dragon Palace in Saundersfoot. Gigi Gao's is also in the running for the Best Vegetarian/Vegan Dish award category. For the latest restaurant reviews, sign up to our food and drink newsletter here.

Returning for a fifth year, public voting opened for the awards on January 8. The awards were founded back in 2017 by TV presenter, fashion stylist and author, Gok Wan MBE, managing director of Oriental Food Specialist SeeWoo UK Lucy Mitchell, and leading food and drink PR and communications specialist Sarah Lewis.
Lokky's will be hoping for back-to-back wins, having claimed the title of Best Restaurant in Wales last time the ceremony was held. The other two finalists have also had their own past success in the competition, with Gigi Gao's claiming victory in 2021, and The Dragon Palace taking home the spoils in 2019.
