A brand new attraction officially opened in Mumbles on Friday and its arrival has been caught in real time thanks to brilliant time-lapse footage. The Big Wheel officially welcomes guests onto its carriages on February 9 and is situated on the land where the area's famous old Cinderella's nightclub once stood. It will offer amazing 360-degree views of Mumbles Lighthouse, Swansea Bay and Bracelet Bay.
On August 31, 2022, a devastating fire wiped out Cinderella's for good. At its height the blaze saw seven fire engines on the scene with crews battling the flames for several hours. Its neighbouring Copperfish restaurant was also badly damaged by the fire. You can read a feature looking back at the old nightclub by clicking here.
This footage, shot by Ceri Hurlow, of Gŵyr, which makes a collection of films and documentaries about Gower, Swansea Bay, and south and west Wales, shows the attraction being assembled frame by frame. For the latest Swansea news sign up to our newsletter here.

CEO of Studt's Events Ltd, Henry Studt, said: "We couldn’t be prouder or more excited to be bringing our newest attraction, The Big Wheel, to the Mumbles Pier. As a family business that’s operated in Swansea for decades, and having raised my own children here, I know how important and special the community of Swansea is to the people that live here.
"We’re lucky to live amongst some of the most spectacular coastline in the UK and being able to provide people of all ages a new way to connect and experience that is very important to us as a business. We hope that this encourages people to visit Swansea and the Mumbles especially, perhaps from further afield – bringing new tourism to the area, offering a unique experience, and sharing with them the incredible home that we all know and love."
