This is what Cardiff looked like on the first Christmas shopping weekend of December
The streets were packed on the first proper weekend of the festive season
Crowds flocked to Cardiff city centre for the first weekend of Christmas shopping in December. With the festive season now in full swing the city centre was busy as visitors took to the shops and restaurants and visited the city's recently launched Christmas market.
Cardiff's St David's shopping centre and surrounding shopping streets including Queen Street and The Hayes were packed with people on Saturday and Sunday with people wrapping up and coming out to shop despite the freezing cold temperatures this weekend.
The Christmas market also brought out the crowds with people making the most of its gift huts and food stalls. You can read all about Cardiff's Christmas market including everything to do and buy there with our guide here.
Shoppers Ryan, from Cardiff, and John, from Oxfordshire, were at the Christmas market for a look around on Saturday, and had braved the crowds, coming in earlier than they usually do. "The markets are good, we like the markets every year. We've just made a few purchases," Ryan told WalesOnline on a Facebook Live. While Ryan said that he had set budgets this year for the cost of living crisis, he added that it was "all fine."
